(Web Design · B2B & Wholesale · London)
B2B & wholesale websites
that turn trade buyers
into repeat customers.
WebAnts is a London web design agency building trade portals, wholesale ordering systems, and B2B ecommerce sites for suppliers, distributors and manufacturers across London and the UK. Account-gated pricing. NET-terms checkout. RFQ workflows. No consumer-store compromises.
What your trade site needs to do
- →Trade account login with customer-specific pricing
- →Minimum order quantity (MOQ) enforcement at checkout
- →Tiered bulk pricing and volume discount structures
- →RFQ (Request for Quote) forms and quotation workflows
- →Net 30/60 invoice payment and Bacs Direct Debit
- →Downloadable product catalogues, specs and data sheets
- →VAT-exclusive price display for verified trade accounts
- →One-click repeat ordering and restock alerts
- →Stock visibility and lead time display per product
- →HMRC-compliant VAT invoices generated automatically
Common problem
Orders still arriving by email and phone
Without a self-service portal, your team manually processes every repeat order — a slow, error-prone, and unscalable workflow that frustrates trade customers and ties up your staff.
Common problem
PDF price lists leak to competitors
Emailing price lists means you have no control over where they go. A trade portal keeps negotiated pricing locked behind a login, visible only to the accounts it's intended for.
Common problem
Consumer checkout turns away trade buyers
B2B buyers don't pay by card at checkout. They need NET terms, purchase orders, and Bacs payment. A consumer-grade Shopify or WooCommerce store with no trade account logic will lose wholesale orders before they start.
Common problem
No visibility of stock or lead times
Trade buyers making purchasing decisions need to know what is in stock, what is on backorder, and when it will arrive. A site that shows no stock data pushes buyers back to a phone call.
(What we build)
Built for trade buyers,
not adapted from a consumer template.
Every feature below is purpose-built for how wholesale and B2B businesses actually operate — not a plugin-stack workaround on a consumer store, and not a Shopify Plus plan costing £1,650/month before a single sale.
01
Trade Account Portal
Login-gated dashboards for verified trade accounts. Each customer sees their negotiated pricing, their order history, their outstanding invoices, and their account credit limit — nobody else sees it. Account registration with admin approval workflow included.
02
Tiered Pricing & MOQ Logic
Customer-group pricing that automatically surfaces the right price for the right account. MOQ enforcement at product and cart level with clear messaging. Volume breaks (e.g. 1–11 units at full price, 12–23 at 10% off, 24+ at 18% off) configured per SKU or category.
03
RFQ & Quotation Workflow
For non-standard orders or high-volume enquiries, a structured Request for Quote form routes to your sales team, generates a trackable quote record, and allows the buyer to approve and convert the quote to an order in one click. No email chains.
04
B2B Checkout & Payment Terms
NET 30 / NET 60 payment terms on approved accounts. Bacs Direct Debit via GoCardless. Purchase order number field at checkout. Credit limit enforcement that holds orders above a set threshold for manual approval. No surcharges, no third-party transaction fees.
05
Trade Catalogue & Data Sheets
Structured product catalogue with downloadable PDFs, technical specifications, EAN/GTIN barcodes, and case-pack dimensions. Catalogue pages gated behind trade login or open for SEO, your choice. Product data importable from your existing ERP or spreadsheet.
06
Repeat Ordering & Restock Alerts
Save an order and resubmit it with one click — essential for distributors with weekly or monthly standing orders. Back-in-stock email alerts for products on back-order. Low-stock warnings displayed at the point your buyer is about to place an order, not after they've placed it.
(Platform choice)
WooCommerce or a custom build. Never Shopify Plus if the numbers don’t stack up.
For most London B2B and wholesale businesses, WordPress with WooCommerce and the B2B for WooCommerce extension is the right foundation. It handles customer-group pricing, MOQ enforcement, NET-terms checkout, Bacs Direct Debit via GoCardless, and HMRC-compliant VAT invoicing without ongoing transaction fees or platform surcharges.
Shopify Plus is the right answer for some B2B builds — primarily those that already run Shopify for consumer sales and want to add wholesale functionality. But at £1,650+/month before apps, it is rarely the most cost-effective starting point for a wholesale-first business.
For complex multi-subsidiary accounts, custom approval chains, or deep ERP integration (Sage 200, SAP, custom systems), we build on a custom Next.js and custom web application stack. We advise based on your real requirements, not platform preferences.

(Who we build for)
B2B sectors we’ve built for
across London.
According to ONS business data, London accounts for over 20% of all UK businesses — with the wholesale trade sector representing tens of thousands of active enterprises across the capital. A trade portal that works is no longer a differentiator; for many buyers it is now a prerequisite for placing an order.
Food & Drink Wholesale
Trade ordering portals for London food distributors and drink importers. MOQ enforcement by pallet or case. Delivery schedule integration. Allergen and compliance data sheets.
Building Materials & Trade Supplies
Catalogue sites with technical data sheets for construction trade suppliers across Greater London — from Park Royal to Tottenham. Stock levels, lead times, and contractor account pricing.
Fashion & Apparel Wholesale
Season-based ordering portals for garment and accessories wholesalers. Style and colourway variants, minimum buy per style, advance order windows, and trade show order pads.
Industrial & Manufacturing Supplies
Complex catalogue builds for London-based industrial suppliers — technical specs, GTIN data, COSHH data sheets, and account-specific contract pricing for maintenance engineers and procurement teams.
Tech & SaaS B2B
Custom web applications and client portals for London SaaS and tech businesses selling to business buyers — licence management dashboards, usage reporting, and subscription billing via Stripe or GoCardless.
Professional Services & Agency B2B
Proposal, retainer, and project management portals for London agencies and professional services firms selling to business clients. Quote approval, SOW sign-off, and invoice collection in one workflow.
“80% of B2B buyers now expect the same digital experience from wholesale suppliers as they get as consumers.”
Forrester B2B Buying Study. London trade buyers are no different — they will place repeat orders with the supplier that makes it easiest, not the supplier that forces them to email a PDF order form.
(How we work)
From current ordering chaos
to a self-service trade portal.
Discovery
A free 30-min call to map your current ordering process, your customer groups and pricing logic, your payment terms, and your integration requirements (ERP, Sage, Xero, etc.). Flat quote same day.
Trade UX Design
B2B buyer journeys are different from consumer journeys. We design account dashboards, trade catalogue pages, RFQ flows, and checkout sequences that match how your buyers actually work, not how a consumer site works.
B2B Build
WordPress + WooCommerce B2B for most trade portals. Custom Next.js for complex multi-account SaaS-adjacent builds. ERP and accounting integrations handled in the build phase. Staged weekly for your review on a private URL.
Launch & Training
Go-live with your trade accounts migrated and credentials issued. Full team training on the admin dashboard — adding accounts, updating prices, managing orders, and approving registrations. Optional ongoing support retainer.

(FAQ)
Questions from B2B and wholesale
businesses about their websites.
What's the difference between a B2B website and a standard ecommerce store?
A standard ecommerce store is designed for anonymous consumers paying by card at checkout. A B2B trade portal is built around verified accounts, each with their own negotiated pricing, payment terms (NET 30/60, Bacs, purchase orders), and ordering history. The checkout logic, the product display, the pricing engine, and the account management are all fundamentally different. Most consumer ecommerce platforms — Shopify standard plans included — cannot replicate these workflows without significant workarounds or expensive apps.
Can WooCommerce handle B2B and wholesale requirements?
Yes, and it's usually our recommendation for B2B/wholesale builds in London. WooCommerce with the B2B for WooCommerce extension, WooCommerce Subscriptions, and GoCardless for Bacs Direct Debit covers the vast majority of trade portal requirements without the high monthly fees or transaction surcharges that Shopify Plus imposes. For very complex builds — multi-subsidiary accounts, ERP-integrated pricing, custom approval chains — we build on a custom Next.js stack with a bespoke backend. We covered the WooCommerce vs Shopify trade-off in detail in our WooCommerce vs Shopify comparison for UK merchants.
How do you handle VAT for B2B customers?
We configure WooCommerce (or the custom build) to display prices excluding VAT to verified trade accounts and including VAT to retail visitors. For UK VAT-registered trade buyers, the checkout calculates and displays the VAT amount on the order confirmation, and generates an HMRC-compliant VAT invoice automatically (via the PDF Invoices plugin or custom invoice generator). For zero-rated supplies or tax-exempt trade accounts, we configure the appropriate tax class at the account level. Post-Brexit OSS compliance for EU trade sales is also supported.
Can trade customers pay on invoice or NET terms?
Yes. We implement NET 30 and NET 60 payment terms via a Purchase Order checkout option (no payment taken online; invoice raised and sent via your accounting system). For automated Bacs Direct Debit collection on NET terms, we integrate GoCardless, which handles mandate setup, collection scheduling, and payment status updates back to the WooCommerce order. Credit limit enforcement — holding orders above a set threshold for manual approval — is also configurable per account.
How long does a B2B wholesale website take to build?
A trade portal with account registration, tiered pricing, a standard catalogue, and a B2B checkout typically takes 6–10 weeks from signed proposal to launch. A more complex build — ERP integration, custom RFQ workflow, multi-subsidiary accounts, and a large product catalogue import — typically takes 10–16 weeks. We agree a firm timeline in the proposal and stage weekly updates throughout.
How much does a B2B wholesale website cost in London?
A WooCommerce B2B trade portal with account login, tiered pricing, MOQ logic, and NET-terms checkout typically costs £8,000–£18,000. A larger build with ERP integration, a custom RFQ workflow, 1,000+ SKU catalogue import, and bespoke account management tooling typically costs £18,000–£40,000. Custom Next.js builds for complex multi-tenant platforms start from £30,000. All quotes are flat-fee — no hourly estimates, no surprises.
Can you integrate with our ERP, Sage, or Xero?
Yes. We integrate with Sage 50, Sage 200, Xero, QuickBooks, and custom ERP systems via their APIs, or via CSV/XML data feeds where a live API isn't available. Common integrations include: syncing stock levels and lead times from the ERP to the website in real time, pushing new orders from the website to Sage or Xero automatically, and updating customer credit limits from the ERP to the trade portal. We scope integrations in detail during discovery — complex bi-directional ERP integrations are priced separately from the core build.
Do you work with B2B businesses across all of London?
Yes. WebAnts is a London-based web design agency serving B2B and wholesale businesses across the capital — from trade suppliers in Park Royal and Wembley to distributors in Canary Wharf, tech B2B companies in Shoreditch, and manufacturing businesses across Greater London. We offer in-person meetings across central and outer London boroughs. All projects include a free 30-minute discovery call wherever you are based.
